Monkey Business
We had Preston's 2nd birthday party today at the Monkey's Treehouse. The kids had the best time. I'm putting lots of pictures on here because they were all so cute! It was so hard to get pics of Maddie, Olivia, and Hannah because they were busy having fun. That's what it's all about, right?

Minor Freakout
We had small group at our house tonight, and we didn't have Preston in bed by the time everyone got here. Marty put him to bed quickly and came back to join the rest of us. So...a couple of hours later, Marty went to do the final bedtime check only to find an empty crib. P has been climbing out of the crib for a while, but he can't open his door yet. Marty looked on the floor, in the rocking chair, everywhere...and didn't see him. Feeling a little panicked, he finally turned on the light and this is what he saw:
Sound asleep on the changing table!
Time for the table to go
He also lined up his socks and shoes on the windowsill. Silly boy!

Why didn't I think of that? (just kidding)
Things have been pretty solemn here with the flood and all, so I thought we could use a good laugh. There are no words to describe this product, but I will try to think of a few. Seriously? It's sad that there is a need for such a product. It's called the backtacular, and the website describes it as a "gluteal cleft patch". I have seen many young women that could benefit from such a product. Actually, the public would benefit if the young women wore the product. Ha! I would love to know what you think about this.

Joyful Java
Check out my friend Becky's blog. It will inspire you. Becky and I have been friends since Kindergarten, and God is continuing to do amazing things in her life. Love this girl!

Teacher Appreciation
Last week was teacher appreciation week at our preschool. Maddie has an amazing teacher named Miss Stephanie. She goes above and beyond to help the kids have new experiences and learn about all kinds of things. We worked on a special project for her. All the kids put their picture and hand prints on construction paper, and I made a book for her. The cover reads "Hand down, you're the best teacher". She loved it!

Pink
I love little boys in pink polo's! We put some gel in Preston's hair, not to make him look tough, but to cover the terrible haircut he got on Wednesday. We have an appointment to get it fixed later today. It is so bad that I am willing to get his head buzzed at this point! Have your kids ever received a bad haircut?

The Dentist
I thought it would be fun to take the kids to the dentist for the 1st time. I was half right and half wrong. I'm sure you can guess which half was wrong! Marty and I chose a local children's office, and it was full of toys and had it's own arcade. The kids loved it.

Daddy liked the arcade

The kids were in rooms across from each other. They both had their teeth cleaned, but we had to wait a bit for the dentist. Maddie and I could hear Preston crying in his room, and soon after, Daddy thought he and I should trade. Preston had enough. By the time we left, he was laying on the floor kicking his legs. So I have two learnings to share with you:
1) Never judge the parents when you see a kid having a tantrum in public. Your child will eventually do it.
2) When the dental office tells you that your child isn't really old enough to come, listen to them!!
Happy flossing!

Walter
After the flooding began to receed, we had a visitor! Maddie named him Walter. The waters must have taken Walter far from his home since he ended up on our back patio! Maddie wanted to keep him, but after much poking and prodding, Walter made his way back toward the water. I must say I don't blame him. No turtle in his right mind wants to end up as a kids "show and tell". Nor does Mommy want to take care of him. I hope he has found a nice new place to rest!
