We have had a really busy September. Thank you for all of your prayers as we grieve the loss of Marty's father. All of the cards and phone calls have meant so much to us.

We have had some fun times with the kids this month, and I can't wait to share them. But first, Marty and I got to do something we have always wanted to do...we went to the opening game for the Michigan Wolverines!!

Losing our Papa

Every fall, we take a trip to Michigan to visit Papa and Nana, and Uncle Doug and Uncle Bob. We had our Labor Day weekend trip planned for months now, and Papa was so excited to see how Maddie Grace and Preston have grown. We sent him pictures every couple of months, and Marty spoke with him often. He and I had many funny phone conversations. With his heavy Hungarian accent and my southern twang, we could be on the phone for an hour and neither of us had a clue what the other had said! He was so proud of Marty.

The Sunday before we were to leave for Michigan, we got a call from Marty's brother Doug. Papa went into congestive heart failure and was in a coma. There were positive signs that he would come out of the coma at the beginning of the week. We drove up Thursday, but there was not much hope by the end of the week.

Marty has a big family. He is the youngest of 6. His oldest brother was killed in a car wreck when Marty was 13. There are 3 more brothers and 1 sister. And 5 step-siblings. I have 13 neices and nephews on Marty's side. The oldest is the same age as me! I have 7 great-neices and nephews! I became a great-aunt at 27. By Saturday, the other siblings were in town, and with Papa's wife, they made the difficult decision to remove the life support. It was a terrible decision for anyone to have to make. I know Papa is with His Savior now, as well as big brother Andy. Please keep Marty and his siblings in your prayers.

1st Bicycle

The kids were so busy having fun at the party, Maddie didn't open her presents. We saved them until this morning. She asked for one thing for her birthday - a purple princess bicycle. Easy enough, right? WRONG! My parents wanted to get it for her, and I offered to pick it up so they wouldn't have to travel with it. I found the bike at T@rget, and Marty went to put it together Friday night. It was broken. We started calling other stores about 9:30 that night, and no one had another in stock. We started our search again early Saturday in between Marty's baseball game and Maddie's ballet class. Twelve T@rget's in, we found one! (W@l-Mart sells a pink version...we checked.)We didn't get it put together in time for the party, but she was so excited to see her surprise!

Daddy's Birthday Celebration

Marty and I went to dinner and a movie to celebrate his birthday since he shares it with Maddie Grace.

I cannot believe my girl is 3 years old. How can time go so quickly? Marty and I decided before we had kids that we wanted to have really fun birthday parties for them. This year, we found a traveling petting zoo that included a pony ride. We rented the neighborhood party barn and had a hot dog cart provide the food. We had a blast. We were there till the miniature cow went home. Literally. I saw at least 5 people taking pics with my camera during the party, so I have tons of great pictures. Thank you to everyone who took pics for me! I was able to enjoy being with my kids.
