Maddie Grace turns 5! - Part 1

Maddie had quite a grand 5th birthday! Her morning started with opening gifts from family. She was so happy to get glittery fingerless gloves for hip hop! She is so funny. Mamaw helped us make goody bags for the party. We love to give really great goody bags. Marty and my dad went golfing after gifts (it's Marty's birthday too!), and my mom and I took the kids on an adventure. We took Maddie to our favorite hair boutique and had her hair put in an up-do and sprayed with lots of glitter! After seeing the pictures, I realized too late that Preston was in need of a serious haircut, and I wish I had taken care of that too! Next we went to Build-A-Bear. Maddie has asked many times to go, so today was her lucky day. She picked a very soft bunny. Preston brough his bear along (from his birthday) and was able to pick a Titan football uniform for it. Then it was time to rush home and get ready for the big gymnastics party!

Kindergarten

The day finally arrived: the first day of Kindergarten!!! We were all so excited on Maddie's 1st day. Three of our neighbors also sent little ones to Kindergarten, and they were very happy to go together.

Hip Hop

Maddie has been looking forward to starting back to dance. This year, she is moving away from ballet and going to take hip hop at the same dance studio. She put together an outfit for her first class:

Seaside - 2011

Marty and I took the kids to the beach in August. We wanted a big family vacation before we had to stick to a school calendar. We chose Seaside again because it is such a special place for our family.

Last day of summer preschool

My kids spent their summer at a Montessori school. They both loved it, and we decided to leave Preston there once Maddie started Kindergarten. I went to Montessori for preschool, and it has an amazing program! On Maddie's very last day of preschool, the kids were allowed to wear costumes. My two love to dress up, so they were very excited! Since this was Maddie's last day of preschool, Marty took the kids to school, and I picked them up. Both of us wanted to be part of her last day!

Happy 4th of July!

Bike Time - July 2nd

You may remember that Preston told his class that he was getting a "Big Bike" for Christmas last year. Marty and I learned of this on December 23rd, but thankfully, Santa made it happen. Well...Preston showed no interest in riding that bike for months. Maddie loved riding her bike, and she really wanted to ride without training wheels. Marty and I didn't think she was ready. Being the strong willed princess that she is, she borrowed a small bike with "only two wheels" from a neighbor. She would not let Marty or myself give her instruction. One afternoon, I was sitting outside watching the kids play. I was on the phone ordering dinner, and I all of a sudden saw a fluid motion in my periphial vision. I look up, and Maddie has taken off with no training wheels!! She had a HUGE smile on her face. Her bicycle is 4" taller than the one she borrowed, but she convinced Marty to take the training wheels off of the big one. Sure enough, she did it! Preston saw us making a big deal out of Maddie's success, so in typical Toth fashion, he decided he was not going to be outdone. He went in the garage and came out riding his bike for the first time! Marty and I could not believe it.

Pottery Painting

I have always wanted to take the kids to a pottery studio. They were very excited when I told them what we were going to do. Preston chose a tractor piggy bank, and Maddie chose a Minnie Mouse statue. It was a lot of fun!

Father's Day

We had some big surprises for Daddy on Father's Day. While he was getting ready for church, our neighbor Nicki brought her husband Matt over (who had just woken up). The guys were so confused, but happily surprised after opening their gifts. Nicki and I decided to send the dads to Talledega! They will go in October and will golf on Saturday, then enjoy pit passes and "all you can eat" at the big race on Sunday. It's fun to surprise Marty because he is such a wonderful father and husband!
