Daddy's Hat

As much as Maddie loves to walk in my heels, she likes wearing her daddy's Michigan hat. Her face is red in these pics because she is still not feeling well. She had an allergic reaction to another antibiotic. The doctor is recommending tubes for her ears. Here she is sitting in her baby doll's stroller.

30 Weeks

My C-section is scheduled for May 21st, which is about a week and a half before my due date. I do not know where this baby is going to go in the meantime because I am out of room! Can you believe my husband is already talking about the next one?!?

Happy Easter!

Maddie had a great time at the neighborhood Easter egg hunt on Saturday. Parents were asked to monitor the kids and stop them after they found 12 eggs. That was nearly impossible. As Maddie found eggs and put them in the basket, Marty would throw them back out for the other kids. She found one of the 3 golden eggs, and she won a gift card to a local ice cream shop. The Easter bunny made an appearance. Maddie waved at him and smiled from about 10 feet away. I tried to get her picture with him, but I got the "no way" response and she took off. There were cookies, Peeps, and juice boxes for refreshments. Maddie couldn't see the top of the table, but she stood next to it and felt around trying to snatch a 2nd cookie. There were at least 70 children, and everyone had a lot of fun. We hope everyone had a blessed day celebrating our Savior's resurrection!

This last link is my favorite. You can search baby products and cosmetics to check out their safety rating. Some of the pediatricians that I work with recommended it to me.

The big 1st day!

Marty and I were reminicing this morning, and we both had bittersweet feelings about Maddie going to preschool. It's heartbreaking to think that she is growing up so fast. She woke up ready to go, and I decided to give her a few Cheerios to eat on her way to her 1st preschool day. Marty and I came in to the living room to find her sitting in her Cheerios mess. She said "uh oh, a mess". She had this look on her face like she had no idea how her cereal got all over the floor. You know, I think I'm going to be okay with her going to preschool!

Bye, mommy!

Maddie had a great 1st day. When I picked her up, she was excited to see me, but she wanted to stay and play. Her teacher said she was an angel (she obviously didn't clean up a cereal mess this morning). They had a green snack in honor of St. Patrick's Day. It consisted of green juice, green jelly beans, a green cookie, and guacamole. Weird combination, I know, but Maddie's teacher told me that Maddie dipped the cookie in the guacamole and ate it all. She is so funny. The other day she dipped her grapes in baked beans. She must get that from Marty's side!

Easter Eggs at Mamaw and Papaw's House

We had a great time coloring eggs. Maddie ate more than she colored. Daddy helped color a few.

Miss Sassy Pants

We played at the park with Sam and Lily. They had a great time. My mom went with us, so we weren't outnumbered. Maddie has become quite the talker in the last few months, and she is constantly making us laugh. I guess she is at an age where she wants her independence because her new phrases are "I do it", "I fix it", and "no way!". The last one is going to be the one that keeps her in time out. She wants to brush her teeth by herself, feed herself, and of course put on her shoes by herself. When Marty or I try to help, we get "no way, I do it!". Then I stop and think that we are going to have another one in 9 weeks! At least he won't be able to talk back for a while. Maddie starts pre-school tomorrow, and I hope it will help this sassiness. We have been out of town for 8 days, and she has not been in her normal routine. Hopefully we will get back on schedule this week.

3 New Teeth!

On top of Maddie's ear infection, she has cut 3 incisors this week. We haven't got a good look at them, but we felt them. Well, she bit me really hard when I tried to feel them, and trust me, they are in. She has 16 teeth now!

1st pigtails

Does anyone have advice for Marty and I regarding our little thumb sucker? Sometimes she sucks both thumbs at the same time. She used to only do it when she was falling asleep, but now it's an all day battle!

Another ear infection

Poor baby...we are one ear infection away from getting tubes in her ears. We finally got her fever to break, but she is not her happy self. Daddy gave her a popcicle last night. She won't eat, so we'll do anything to get fluids in her.

Belly shots

I keep getting asked why we haven't put any pics of my preggo belly on here lately. There are a few reasons. This past week, a nurse told me that I looked like I could have my baby any day. You can imagine the look on her face when I told her I have 3 months to go. Then the cashier at Walgreens told me that I was really big and that she didn't get that big when she had her baby last year. Isn't that nice for her. Did she seriously think it was appropriate to say that to me? I know that I closely resemble Humpty Dumpty right now...I see myself every day. But why do others think it's okay to point it out to me? I'm not the cute pregnant girl that looks like she is carrying a basketball. I look like I'm carrying the whole basketball team! However, it is not okay to tell a pregnant girl how big she is!!

Another great day

We found a kite in the dollar bin at Target. Marty flew it for Maddie today, and I have to say it held up well. I fully expected it to rip apart since it was so cheap. We think Maddie is getting an ear infection, which explains why we have her so bundled in 70 degree weather. We are headed to the doctor tomorrow.

Maddie's 1st Peep!

We are pretty strict parents when it comes to sugar. However, I bought some Easter candy, and I decided to give Maddie one of the Peeps chicks. She thought she was getting away with something, and I guess she was since daddy didn't know what we did. She actually didn't eat it. She licked it for a few minutes, and then gave me the remaining green mess.

mmmm...

Waiting for Spring...

We had great weather this weekend. We took Maddie Grace to the park. She loves the swings, and she played in sand for the first time. It was a great day!

1st day of preschool

This week, we had a trial run at a preschool. I tried to get some pics before we left, but Maddie was only interested in her waffles (as you can see by the chubby cheeks). She has been in private child care since she was 10 weeks old, so it was hard for me to think about her being a big girl and going to "school". Every week, Marty and I watch how excited she gets to go to Sunday School and play with other kids, so we decided it was time to make the move. She's 18 months old, and we know it will be good for her. I know she is going to get sick being around so many other kids, and that is probably the hardest thing for me. I will get over it eventually, I guess. Anyway, when we arrived, we walked her to her class, she smiled at the other 5 kids, waved, and said "hi, babies". Then she walked over to a little girl and gave her a hug. It was very sweet, and of course she didn't notice me leave. She took a nap on a mat for the first time, which I couldn't believe. She has always slept in a crib or a pack-n-play. I was so proud of her. She made her 1st magic marker art project, and you can see by her hand that she enjoyed it. We will get a report on her each day, and her first one was great. Her teachers said she was an angel (which we already know!). Our baby girl is growing up.
